Zheng Yan received the B. Eng in electrical engineering and M. Eng in computer science and engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1994 and 1997. She received a second M. Eng in information security from National University of Singapore in 2000. She received the Licentiate of Science and the Doctor of Science in Technology in electrical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005 and 2007. She is currently a full professor at the Xidian University, Xi'an, China and a visiting professor/academy research fellow/docent in Aalto University, Finland. She joined the Nokia Research Center, Helsinki in 2000, working as a senior researcher until 2011. Before Nokia, she worked as a research scholar at the Institute for Information Research from 1997 to 1999 and a software engineer at the IBM partner SingaLab from 1999 to 2000, Singapore. She authored more than 260+ peer-reviewed publications including over 150+ journal articles and solely authored 2 books. She is the inventor of 70+ patents and PCT patent applications, all of which were adopted by industry. Her research interests are in trust, security, privacy, and data analytics. Prof. Yan serves as a steering or organizational committee member for more than 30 conferences and and a technical committee member for more than 50 international conferences and workshops, e.g., IEEE ICDCS, IEEE GlobeCom, IEEE ICC, ICSOC, ACM MobileHCI, ACM SAC, etc. She is a steering committee co-chair of IEEE Blockchain conference. She is an area editor of Information Fusion, an associate editor of IEEE IoT Journal, Information Sciences, JNCA, IEEE Access, Security and Communication Networks (Wiley), Soft Computing, etc., a special issue guest editor of more than 30 journals, such as IEEE TII, IEEE JBHI, ACM TOMM, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE TNSE, Future Generation Computer Systems, Computers & Security, VehCom, IJCS and ACM/Springer MONET, and acts as a reviewer for many top journals. She is the organizer of IEEE ATC2019, IEEE Blockchain 2018, IEEE BigDataSE2018, IEEE CIT2017, ICA3PP2017, NSS2017, IEEE TrustCom/BigDataSE/ISPA-2015, EAI MobiMedia2016, IEEE CIT2014, CSS2014, and IEEE iThings 2012 security track, etc.. Zheng Yan received her M.Eng (1997) in computer science and engineering from the Xi'an Jiaotong University, the second M.Eng (2000) in information security from the National University of Singapore, her Licentiate of Science (2005) and Doctor of Science (2007) degrees from the Helsinki University of Technology. She is currently a docent at the Aalto University, Finland. She also has a professorship and is a PhD supervisor at the Xidian University, China. Before joining academia in 2011, she worked as a senior researcher at the Nokia Research Center, Helsinki since 2000. She worked as a research scholar at the Institute for Information Research from 1997 to 1999 and a software engineer at the IBM partner SingaLab from 1999 to 2000, Singapore. She has participated and led around 20 projects, including EU projects, TEKES projects, international cooperation projects, Nokia internal and external projects and so on. She has instructed and is instructing 5 PhD students and 10 master students. She authored more than 100 publications including one book about trust modeling and management and 23 patents and patent applications. She has given 4 keynote speeches and invited talks in international conferences and universities. Her research interests are in trust modeling and management, trusted computing, privacy, security, HCI, mobile applications and services, cloud computing, social networking and pervasive computing. She is a member of the IEEE. She serves as an organization/program committee member for numerous international conferences and workshops, an editorial board member of the Journal of Convergence, and a guest editor of IET Information Security. Recently, she achieved the "Outstanding Service Award" in IEEE TrustCom 2012 and IEEE TrustID 2012, "Outstanding Leadership Award" in IEEE iThings 2012, "100 Plan Award" of Shaanxi Provience, China (2011), "Sisu Award" in Nokia Research Center (2010), and "Best Organizer Award" in UIC/ATC 2010.
