Currently I work as a postdoctoral researcher in Water and development research group. I focus on studying the use of food systems by-products as a way to increase the more efficient and sustainable use of natural resources. I explore and map the material flows and resource competition between the different parts of the food system.
My work is part of the Sustainable food futures within safe operating spaces - SOS.aquaterra-project. Project aims to identify feasible measures to meet future food demand globally while staying below local and global safe operating spaces (SOS), such as planetary boundaries. In the project we will develop novel integrated modelling system that can integrate relevant planetary boundaries together with global food system. Further, we will also asses the sub-national social feasibility of different measures that would ease the pressure of food production on natural resources.
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Water and Development Research Group (WDRG). I work with food systems and their sustainability transitions in the SOS.aquaterra project.
My backgound is in environmental science and policy (PhD, University of Helsinki, 2018). In my doctoral thesis I studied international food trade as a driver of the displacement of environmental pressure.
I defended my doctoral thesis at the University of Helsinki in November 2018 in the Ecosystems and Environment research programme with Environmental Change and Policy as my major. In my thesis I studied international food trade as a driver of the displacement of environmental pressure. After my defense, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the LUT University continuing the work with food systems this time with a focus on planetary boundaries of the nutrient use.
