The Humans of Aalto University
I am a Full Professor of audio signal processing at Aalto University, Espoo, Finland. I am also the Vice Dean for Research and the Chair of the Doctoral Programme Committee at the Aalto School of Electrical Engineering. I lead the Audio Signal Processing Research Group, which belongs to the Aalto Acoustics Lab. My duties include teaching courses in audio signal processing and supervising Master's and doctoral students as well as visiting and postdoctoral researchers, who are specializing in acoustics and audio technology. My research interests include machine learning for audio processing, audio effects processing, sound synthesis, audio headsets, loudspeaker signal processing, equalizing filters, and reverberation algorithms. I am a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society and the IEEE. I was the General Chair of the Sound and Music Computing Conference SMC-17 and of the DAFx-08 conference. In 2015-2020, I was a Senior Area Editor of a top-tier journal in my field, the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing. Currently, I am the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society.
The application period for Master's studies in Acoustics and Audio Technology at Aalto University will open in December and close in early January. All our courses are taught in English.
