Electroluminescent cooling (ELC), a phenomena proposed almost half a century ago as a viable option for solid-state cooling applications utilising light as the cooling fluid. However, a commercial working device is still elusive due to stringent requirements of material quality and extremely low non-idealities. My recent research endeavours are directed in this direction. It mainly involves the cleanroom fabrication, characterization and surface passivations to boost the internal quantum efficiency of devices.
Person profile
My present work is related to novel thermoelectrics and related functional thin films besides, bit of bulk preparation and instrumentation. I am also developing novel ALD processes for metal chalcogenides based on pure atomic precursors for device applications and research.
Background
Before joining Aalto University I worked as a research associate for one year at National University of Singapore (NUS) in Professor R Mahendiran's group. At NUS I studied several manganites and cobaltites, which are known for their magnetic memory appications, for their magnetic and magneto-transport properties. Subsequently, at IUAC (Inter-University Accelerator Centre) India during my second appointment, I studied thermoelectric properties of the state-of-the-art TE materials such as PbTe, Bi2Te3, via ion implantation and irradiation besides designing setups for measurements and providing user support for measurements.
