As an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Art and Media at Aalto University, my research interests include university pedagogy, higher arts education, arts and creativity in academia as well as professional and academic development. My special interest is in collaborative research endeavors and in “new” modes of (post) qualitative research. I have published in several refereed journals and edited volumes as well as presented my research work in various academic networks. In addition, I have advised several doctoral candidates at Aalto University, University of the Arts Helsinki and University of Helsinki, as well as taught several BA, MA and doctoral courses in, for example, research methodology and university pedagogy. I have also had the privilege to visit Arizona State University twice, first as a Fulbright Scholar in 2009 and second as a Visiting Scholar in 2015.
In my position, as Senior Specialist for Art and Creative Practices I support Aalto University’s strategic objective of renewing society by art, creativity and design. We at Aalto believe that art, design and creativity radically question and challenge our society and culture. Our aim is to increase the visibility and impact of art, design and transdisciplinary creativity. These aims are approached through diverse university-wide activities such as Sharing and co-creating transdisciplinary artworks and University-Wide Art Studies, and by developing mechanisms to integrate creative practices and design thinking with technology and business throughout Aalto University. In addition, I have the title of Adjunct Professor at the Department of Art at Aalto University.
Prior to my current position I was a full-time scholar for over ten years funded by the Academy of Finland, including Postdoctoral Researcher at Theatre Academy (2008-2010) and Academy Research Fellow (2011-2016) at Aalto University. During 2016–2022 I acted as a Senior Specialist for Art and Creative Practices at Aalto University, Leadership Support Services.
