Taija is an assistant professor of Design Management at Aalto School of Business. Her
research focuses on how organizations introduce something new to their portfolios,
let it be new products or services, processes, ways of working, doing business
(business models) or practices that deviate from what is common to that context.
One stream of her research focuses on how these novelties impact on the
organizational design, the second examines how change challenges the prevailing
values, belief systems and norms that guide our everyday action.
Taija has been also very active on sharing the knowledge gained from her studies to practitioners
by developing variety of tools and methods to handle the given situations.
Currently, she serves as a member of the board in manufacturing and service
fields and is passionate about learning and pedagogics.
Taija has worked as a management consultant before completing her PhD in Industrial
Engineering and Management (Aalto University) and has extensive international
research experience from University of Cambridge (UK) and University of
Technology Sydney (AU).
I am an Assistant Professor of Design Business Management at the Department of Management Studies. I teach mainly topics to do with Business Model Innovation, Service Driven Platforms, Digitalization and Service Management.
Before joining Aalto School of Business, I was a PhD candidate at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management and post doctoral researcher leading the research group Service Engineering and Management. In addition, I have been academic visitor at the University of Cambridge since 2012.
I am fascinated about the challenge of changing business environment caused by digitalization, big data, internet of things and increasing dominance of services that create pre-requisites for business model innovation. Therefore, my research topics evolve around dynamic strategies, continuous change, systemic innovation, service driven platforms, digitalization, resilience and systemic competitive advantage.
