Seongtae (Seo) Kim is an assistant professor of logistics and supply chain management at Aalto University School of Business. Prior to Aalto, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Logistics Management at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Switzerland. He obtained his PhD from the University of Hull’s Logistics Institute, UK. His doctoral thesis investigated the financial impact of corporate ethical sourcing, which was fully funded by a PhD Scholarship from the Business School, and was awarded a highly commended Outstanding Research Award by Emerald/EFMD.
His current research interests lie in the areas of supply chain sustainability/ethics, supply chain risk and disruptions, complex supply networks, and digital transformation in logistics. His research articles, published after PhD, are listed under "Publications" (or Google Scholar). His work has received several research awards such as the Best Paper Award (2020) for the Journal of Supply Chain Management and the Best Paper Award Finalist (2021) at the European Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting.
Seo is on the editorial review board of the Journal of Supply Chain Management and International Journal of Logistics Management, and serves as a frequent ad-hoc reviewer for leading logistics and supply chain management journals and conferences. His service has received the Best Reviewer Award (2021) for the Academy of Management (OSCM Division) Annual Meeting.
Currently, at Aalto, he teaches Global Logistics and Distribution Networks (BA level, Period IV) and Procurement and Strategic Sourcing (MSc level, Period II - from 2022-2023). He is also supervising master (one received Master's Thesis Award in 2021) and doctoral students and interested in supervising new students in the areas of logistics and supply chain management, particularly on the topics noted above.
