My background is in psychology and cognitive science, and I received my Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction in 2002 from Helsinki University of Technology. My research work has been focusing on the human point of view to design. I have developed methods and practices for gathering and analyzing user needs, identifying user values and symbolic meanings of products, and evaluating user experience. At the moment, I focus on e-Health and supporting social and health care professionals in digitalization in the COPE research project.
Almost all my research work has performed in close co-operation with industrial partners such as Nokia, Teamware, Kone, Tekla, Vaisala, F-Secure, Polar, Telia-Sonera, Paf, Suunto, and Fiskars.
