I work on water resources management, governance and sustainability as well as on integrated and interdiscplinary approaches. This interview tells bit more about my background and research, including themes such as water diplomacy, transboundary water cooperation and water governance.

I am a proud member of our Water and Environmental Engineering Research Group (WAT) and related Water & Development Research Group (WDRG). I am Programme Director for our WAT Master's Programme in Water and Environmental Engineering, and I participate in its award-winning Majakka Doctoral Education project. I've also been planning and now implementing A!ENG Research Lab course that introduces new doctoral students to the wonderful world of science, research and scientific writing.

I have worked for long in Asia, particularly on Mekong River and its transboundary water management and strategy processes. I collaborate closely with different ministries and other stakeholders, and have worked e.g. for the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mekong River Commission, Asian Development Bank and World Bank.

I also acted as a Consortium Leader for multi- and interdisciplinary Winland project (2016-19), funded by the Strategic Research Council of Finland. Winland looked at energy, food and water security as part of Finland's comprehensive security with the help of interdisciplinary research, scenarios and co-creation. I also took part in the Business Finland-funded, cross-Aalto New Global project.

And yes, I cycle to work throughout the year, enjoying one of the most beautiful cycling routes in entire Helsinki!
