Markéta is a design researcher and curator experimenting with embodied, relational ways of knowing and doing, often in multi-species settings. She currently serves as a postdoctoral research fellow at the CreaTures project (Creative Practices for Transformational Futures) where she leads the Laboratory of experimental artistic productions. She has co-founded several creative and design research initiatives including the Uroboros festival, the Open Forest Collective and the Feeding Food Futures network. Her work leverages co-creative methods from participatory and experimental design to support reflective, imaginative and sensory-rich experiences. Examples include walking in a forest under the guidance of a dog, speculating on food futures through the medium of Tarot, or fermenting spaces for feral, more-than-human encounters. www.materie.me
I am a design researcher with a background in HCI and Food Studies. My research reflects human-food practices as major drivers of climate change and investigates the role of creative design practices in supporting socially and ecologically sustainable futures. In my work, food functions as a widely relatable, aesthetically and sensory-rich design material and a starting point for critical hands-on thinking, making, and co-creative action. At Aalto, I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the CreaTures project (Creative Practices for Transformational Futures) and a member of ENCORE and INUSE research groups. I have co-founder several art and design research collectives, including Feeding Food Futures, ALTTAB, HotKarot, and Fermentation GutHub. I am always interested in collaborating with designers, researchers, artists, and broadly anyone interested in [food] sustainability issues and experiments. More at materie.me.
