I work as a staff scientist at the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems. My research focus is in the separation and characterization of complex polysaccharides, (bio)polymers, and nanoparticles. Biomass derived polymers, such as polysaccharides, are heterogeneous materials containing molecules with varying chain length, chemical composition, branching and charge density. In my work, I employ various hyphenated techniques, mainly multiple-detection liquid-phase separations, for detailed characterization of novel bio(polymeric) materials. As a staff scientist in the field of analytical chemistry, I support research groups at the School of Chemical Engineering in the challenges related to analytical chemistry.
