From my background I am a designer and design researcher, and my education comes from the fields of co-design and empathic design. I’ve been part of Encore - Engaging Co-design Research Group many years now.
Over the years, I have moved from people-centered orientation and design toward more life-centered approaches. This path has led me to study theoretical frameworks and practices that are relevant when thinking about our abilities to shift mindsets and postures towards new ways of being and becoming with the world and Earth. These include exploring the concepts of care ethics, ontology of becoming, social construction of reality and inner dimension of sustainability as well as awareness-based systems change methods and techniques for facilitating both individual and collective transformation journeys. I am particularly interested in the interconnected relationship between internal and external change, as well as how these topics can be integrated into co-creation processes and practices aiming to create sustainable and flourishing futures for all. The themes of self-awareness and transformation are therefore strongly present in my research.
Currently I'm working in two projects, both related to the themes of creativity, transformation, capacity building and change toward human and planetary sustainability. CreaTures project studies creative practices and their transformational potential to move the world towards socio-ecological sustainability. Capacity Building of Creative Radicals (CBCR) is a cross-Aalto experimentation, co-learning and capacity building project to advance Aalto’s strategic goal of developing the culture of Radical Creativity
Additionally, I’m finalising my dissertation with a working title; Turning inwards for change - Practices for shifting internal postures for transformative and self-reflective co-design.
