Juha A. Mallat received the M.Sc.(Tech.) (with honors), Lic. Tech., and D.Sc.(Tech.) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) (now fused into Aalto University), Espoo, Finland, in 1986, 1988, and 1995, respectively. Since 1985, he was with TKK Radio Laboratory (and its Millimetre Wave Group), as Research Assistant, Senior Teaching Assistant, and until 1994, Research Associate. From 1995 to 1996, he was Project Manager and Coordinator of an educational project between TKK and Turku Institute of Technology. After this, he has served, e.g., as Teaching Researcher with TKK.
Since 1997, he has also been Senior Scientist with the Millimetre Wave Laboratory of Finland — ESA External Laboratory (MilliLab), with the exception of 2001–2002, when he was Professor (pro tem) of Radio Engineering with TKK. Recently he has served as Senior University Lecturer with Department of Radio Science and Engineering, Aalto University. From the beginning of 2017, he is with newly formed Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University, continuing also participation in the activities of MilliLab. His research interests and experience cover various topics in Radio Engineering applications and measurements, especially at millimetre-wave and THz frequencies. He has also been involved in the building and testing of millimetre-wave receivers for space applications.
