I am an Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Information Systems at Aalto University School of Business. I mostly conduct empirical research on different socio-technical aspects of digital innovation, with a focus on stakeholders' behaviour and information security and privacy concerns. More recently, I have been focusing on the role of urban analytics, SDGs and citizens' participation in developing digital services in smart cities. In addition to supervising doctoral and master's theses, I am the principal lecturer of the Information Security Management course(ISM-E2003) at the Department of Information and Service Management. My research have been published, or are under review, in top-tier Information Systems and Software Engineering venues (FT50, ABS4*, ABS3, JUFO3).
I have served as an associate editor for the European Conference on Information Systems (2020 & 2021), and currently I serve on the editorial board of the Information & Media journal (JUFO1).
I received my PhD from the Faculty of IT, University of Jyväskylä, Finland in 2017. I hold a M.Sc. in Information Systems from University of Oulu, Finland (2012) and a B.Eng. in Software Engineering from Iran Azad University (2005). In addition to my academic responsibilities, I have worked as a project manager in several international R&D projects in the areas of Cybersecurity and Software Engineering. Prior to my academic career, I worked more than seven years in Software and IT industry.
Simultaneous to my current position at Aalto University School of Business, I'm a visiting research fellow of the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities, the first cross-border centre of excellence co-financed by the EU and Estonian government. The goal of this CoE is to develop novel solutions for smart cities to be implemented first in Helsinki and Tallinn regions and then scaled globally. Before joining Aalto university, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of IT University of Jyväskylä (2017-2019), from where I received my PhD in 2017.
