Gautam is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Media having begun his tenure in June 2020. As a member of the Research group 'Systems of Representation', he is advised and supervised by Prof Lily Díaz-Kommonen. His research is focused on integrating serious games and new forms of media such as mixed reality into digital cultural heritage.

An avid game designer hailing from Bengaluru in India, Gautam acquired a Bachelor's in Digital Video Production at Srishti School of Art and Design in 2012. From 2014 onward, he went on to study Game Design and Production at Aalto University's Department of Media. Since then, he has worked on numerous game projects dealing with serious games, gamification as well mediums such as Virtual and Augmented Reality.
