My research interests focus on self-monitoring, personal informatics, analytics in relation to learning. How can these tools be used in a learning situation where learners have agency, autonomy and control over their data? How to use the monitored data to support skills like reflection and self-regulation? I explore these questions using a constructive design approach which means building prototypes and test them to understand what kind of learning experiences can be supported. I'm interested in how can information visualization support reflection and sense-making. I like creating and interpreting images, learning and finding creative uses of technology. But overall, I think is crucial to think critically. In this sense, I'm convinced that infovis can be a powerful tool to develop critical thinking.
Besides this... I like sports, drawing, writing, talking and trying and learning new things. Currently, some of the things I'm trying to learn: suomi, knitting and cross-country skiing
A note... from April until July 2014, I'm doing a stay at the Graduate School of Design, Kyushu University (Japan) as part of my doctoral studies.
