I'm an assistant professor in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at Aalto University, and director of the AERIS (Aesthetic Experience in Interactive Systems) group. Drawing from my background in psychology, I research motivational and emotional aspects of the User Experience and Games to establish a better understanding of what constitutes "good" interaction. In particular, my work investigates how interactive systems support aesthetic and meaningful user experiences that endure beyond interaction. Moreover, I'm interested in methodology and meta-science, especially with regards to the role of psychological theories in HCI.
My main publication venues are CHI and CHI PLAY.
What is meaningful interaction? How does technology use impact wellbeing? To answer these questions I research motivational and emotional aspects of the User Experience and Digital Games. I am also interested in methodology and meta-science, especially with regards to developing new evaluation tools, mixed-methods and the role of psychological theories in informing Human-Computer Interaction.
