Ari Ekroos, LL.D. is Professor of Economic Law at the Aalto University. Ekroos is expert in environmental, climate, land use planning and real estate law. Ekroos has accomplished several research projects related to environmental and energy law (environmental protection legislation, energy related environmental law, climate law and nature conservation law) and environmental administration.
He has accomplished several research projects related to environmental (environmental protection, nature conservation); climate law (mitigation and adaptation), land use planning law and environmental administration.
Ekroos has also been involved with preparation and amendment of the most important parts of the Finnish environmental legislation (e.g. Nature Conservation Act, Land Use Planning and Building Act, Environmental Protection Act and Climate Act). He has also been legal advisor in several legal cases.
Ympäristö- ja ilmasto-oikeuden tutkimus opetus sekä yhteiskunnallinen vaikuttaminen laajasti ymmärrettynä.
Olen toiminut talousoikeuden professorina 1.1.2000 alkaen ja tutkimusintressini ovat laajasti ympäristöoikeudellisia pitäen sisällään ainakin ympäristön pilaantumisen ehkäisemistä koskevan lainsäädännön, luonnonsuojelulainsäädännön, maankäytö- ja rakentamisen sääntelyn, vesioikeuden ja ilmastosääntelyn. Erityisenä kiinnostuksen kohteenani on nykyisin ilmastonmuutoksen hillitsemiseen ja siihen sopeutumiseen liittyvä ympäristö- ja energiaoikeudellinen sääntely laajasti ymmärrettynä, jolloin siihen kuuluu ylikansallisen sääntelyn (ilmastonmuutossopimus/Kioto ja EU:n ilmastosääntely päästökauppoineen ja muine toimineen) ja ohjauksen lisäksi kansallinen lainsäädäntö mukaan lukien perinteinen ympäristöoikeudellinen normisto.
